A long time ago, the Volkswagen put up to the market the Volkswagen Type 2, more commonly know in North America as the Westfalia. Its first official drawing were made in 1947 but it took more than a year until it got officially approved for production. A few months later, on the 12th day of November 1949, the first Volkswagen Type 2 drove off the assembly line. They stopped the production of this generation in 1967. Now, 50 years later, Volkswagen presents the I.D. Buzz concept, the successor of the Westfalia.

Only in the first year of production, VW built over 9,541 Type 2s. The new I.D. Buzz will be electric and looks futuristic with LED headlights and tailights. The drive system as well as the batteries are under the car which provides a lower center of gravity and therefore better handling. This also allows a greater amount of space in order to travel peacefully. With more than half a century separating the old and the new one, this new version will maximize the utilization of space. It'll include a full interactive connectivity as well as some variable seating configuration.
