Honda celebrates National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day and they've announced its new 5-passenger, powered with hydrogen, the Clarity Fuel Cell sedan. With a refueling time of three to five minutes, the Clarity Fuel Cell is expected to have a driving range of more than 480 kilometers (300 miles). ![]() The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell team has created a fuel cell stack that is 33% more compact and 60% more powerfull than the previous one, the Honda FCX Clarity. The new Honda Clarity Fuel Cell will feature a driving range of approximately 480 kilometers (300 miles). The new car features a lower, wider and more aerodynamic body than the original FCX. Refueling the car will take three to five minutes when using a 70 kPa refueling station. Apple CarPlay, as well as Androit Auto are featured in the Clarity Fuel Cell. LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels are also part of the new features. It will be available in three colors, Bordeaux Red, White Orchid Pearl and Crystal Black pearl. But the real question here is "How does it work?" Well, the fuel cell produces electricity. It converts hydrogen from the fuel tank and oxygen from the air and then powers the electric motor. In terms of safety, Honda mounted the hydrogen fuel tank in the subframe of the vehicle. And Honda claims this car isn't a prototype, it's a real car that can be driven by everyone. They've also introduced the "Plasmacluster" technology which features and improved air quality level inside the cabin. The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is available on the American Honda website but isn't available yet on the Canadian website. Let's hope it'll make its way to the Canadian market!
