The very anticipated Honda Civic Si Coupe and Si Sedan were announced by Honda America this morning on their YouTube channel. It'll be possible to buy both the Si Sedan and Si Coupe within the next month and it will be listed at around $27,000.

"The 2017 Honda Civic Si is our first turbocharged Si and and sets a new sporty compact benchmark in  terms of agility and precise handling while building toward the launch of the Type R as the final chapter in our epic 10th-generation Civic story", said Jeff Conard, senior vice president automobile division, American Honda. This now confirms a Type R will be considered and hopefully produced. It would be amazing to add the Type R in an already epic 10th-gen Civic for us, Honda enthusiasts.

The Civic Si's engine will be a 1.5-liter that will develop 205 horsepower at 6700 rpm and will get a peak torque of 192 lf-ft at 5700 rpm. The engine will be a turbocharged DOHC in line 4 cylinder with a dual variable cam timing. The Si will come with a 6 speed manual transmission (Honda saved the manuals!) that will transfer the power to the wheels. The 2017 Si will be much lighter than its previous models. There will be an adaptive electric power steering system, a sportier suspension, an adaptive damper system, limited-slip differential, the front brakes will be larger, tires wider in order to have a car that will grip a lot more. The front upper control arms are the same as the future Civic Type R. You'll be able to drive your Si in two modes; the Normal Mode and the Sport Mode. The sport mode will enable a harder suspension settings as well as the steering wheel and the gas pedal will be (even) more responsive.

The Si will therefore wear a black spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels and low profile tires. Seats and shift knob will have the classic Honda red stitching. Unfortunately, the Si will come with electronic parking brakes (no more handbrake turns), dual zone climate control, rain sensing wipers and heated front seats. Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto will be featured on the 7-inch touchsceen infotainment.
